A relative (and a democrat) sent this to me and I really enjoyed it. The best part about it is that its true and probably is distributed by the DNC (at Howie's behest) to potential candidates ;)

1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.
2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and North Korean communists.
4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.
5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical documented changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.
6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.
9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.
10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make The Passion of the Christ for financial gain only.
12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain
parts of the Constitution.
13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.
14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison & A.G. Bell.
15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very nice person.
17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.
18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender belonged in the White House.
19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.
20. You have to believe that illegal Democratic Party funding by the Chinese Government is somehow in the best interest to the United States.
21. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right wing conspiracy

Iraq's a lost cause? Ask the real experts

Amidst all the doom and gloom and whining of the liberal democrats, there are other voices out there that are sounding a more optimistic note in the war in Iraq. Max Boot has a great editorial in the LA Times that should be required reading. In it he points out evidence that we are winning the war:

. . . in a survey last month from the U.S.-based International Republican Institute, 47% of Iraqis polled said their country was headed in the right direction, as opposed to 37% who said they thought that it was going in the wrong direction. And 56% thought things would be better in six months. Only 16% thought they would be worse.

The Iraqis are starting to believe that things are getting better.

American soldiers are also much more optimistic than American civilians. The Pew Research Center and the Council on Foreign Relations just released a survey of American elites that found that 64% of military officers are confident that we will succeed in establishing a stable democracy in Iraq.

Although both the Army and the Marine Corps are having trouble attracting fresh recruits — no surprise, given the state of public opinion regarding Iraq — reenlistment rates continue to exceed expectations. Veterans are expressing their confidence in the war effort by signing up to continue fighting.

Why doesn't the MSM and the liberal democrats listen to the same troops that they claim they support? Because they are invested in the U.S. losing the war. If we do badly, they win, if we do well they lose. They are politically invested in things going badly. This is why the campaign of lies and deception continues on the left.

You might think you'd remember whether you'd ever been drafted by a major league baseball team.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) seemingly cannot recall if he was or not. According to the L.A. Times, Richardson has been claiming for about "four decades" that he was drafted by the A's in 1966.

Get this:

. . . an investigation by the Albuquerque Journal found no record of Richardson being drafted by the A's or any other team.

Informed by the newspaper of its findings, the governor acknowledged the error in a story in Thursday's editions.

"After being notified of the situation and after researching the matter … I came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A's," Richardson said. He said he had believed it was true based on an old program from an amateur team he had played for.

I can see that your memory might fade over time but this had been going on for 4 decades. What is it with politicians?

Thanksgiving - pray and give thanks for the troops

As I reflect on the things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, my thoughts return as they always do to the God who gave us this great nation and the men and women that have sacrificed so much: from the first settlements in the "New World" to the current day heroes fighting in Iraq so that people there can be free from a life of repression and experience the freedoms that we take for granted here in America. Thanks be to God in that He has raised up those with a vision and a will for defending freedom.

However you celebrate this day today, take some time out to pray for and remember our troops spending this time away from their families and loved ones. They deserve our utmost respect and support.

God bless our troops and God bless America.

On Larry King Live! on 11/21/05 Bob Woodward states that he never had a bombshell, that he found out about Valarie Plame in a "casual offhand remark" with a "source". Kinda makes you wonder about the liberals theory about the "conspiracy" against Joe Wilson.

Other interesting information from the interview:

KING: Last week the Post ombudsman, Deborah Howell, said "Last week we found out that he (Woodward) kept the kind of information from Downie, the editor that it is a deeply serious sin not to disclose to a boss. That kind can get a good reporter in the dog house for a long time." Why didn't you tell him?

WOODWARD: Because I, you know, I was focused on getting the book done. You know the significance of this is yet to be determined and what's the good news in all of this is when it all comes out, and hopefully it will come out, people will see how casual and offhand this was.

Remember, the investigation and the allegations that people have printed about this story is that there's some vast conspiracy to slime Joe Wilson and his wife, really attack him in an ugly way that is outside of the boundaries of political hardball.

Hmm, Bob says the good news is that all of this was casual and offhand: meaning there was no "plot" to "get" Joe Wilson in his mind. If Patrick Fitzgerald had any integrity, he'd rescind the indictment against "Scooter" Libby immediately.

The evidence I had firsthand, small piece of the puzzle I acknowledge, is that that was not the case. So, I'm trying to find out and focus on immense questions about are we going to go to war in Iraq? How are we going to do it? What is the nature of Powell's position? What did Cheney do? What was the CIA's role? How good was the intelligence on all of this?

I think at this point I was learning things like that the CIA Director George Tenet went in and told the president the intelligence on WMD in Iraq was a slam dunk. That was new. That was the basis of this incredibly critical decision the president and his war cabinet were making on do we invade Iraq?

How come the CIA director is never mentioned by the liberals? Why isn't he being held accountable by them? One reason may be because he was appointed by Clinton. All the liberals want to do is lie about Bush lying and manipulating the intelligence.

Once again, we find that when the truth starts to come out, we find out that the left has engaged in lying and deceit in order to advance themselves politically. Wow, what a surprise . . .

What exit strategy? This "victory" strategy

The democrats are whining about there being no exit strategy when the administration has said all along there was one, its just called a "Victory" strategy. I guess what the administration needs to do is to have someone give another speech and point out again the deception that the demorats and the MSM are conspiring to hide from the American people.

So there you have it: a "Victory" strategy, not a "cut and run" exit strategy the democrats wish we had.

Lie #1
the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence issued its report on the CIA's prewar intelligence on Iraq.

The report concluded that Wilson lied when he denied his wife got him the Niger assignment. "Valerie had nothing to do with the matter," he wrote in his book, adding, "She definitely had not proposed that I make the trip."

But according to the Senate report: "Interviews and documents provided to the committee indicate his wife . . . suggested his name for the trip." This included a memo Plame herself sent to the CIA.

Lie #2

The report also said Wilson lied when he told The Washington Post he knew the Niger intelligence had been based on forged documents. The CIA didn't obtain the document said to be a forgery until a full eight months after Wilson's return from Niger.

Lie #3

Wilson told the public Niger had denied the uranium connection. But the Senate found that Wilson's own report said that the Niger government had confirmed that Iraq had tried to buy uranium.

While Wilson was found to have lied repeatedly, an independent British investigative committee on WMD intelligence headed by Lord Butler in its report (butlerreview.org.uk ) found "the intelligence was credible" and Bush's statement was "well-founded."

This is all the liberals have. Liars doing what they do best: Lie. Read the whole article referenced above, its very enlightening.

Katrina Evacuees and government money

Here’s more evidence (from Drudge)that you cannot just throw money at people and expect them to do the right things with it:

Hurricane Katrina evacuees hastily handed $2,000 in federal relief money last month have been living it up on Cape Cod, blowing cash on booze and strippers, a Herald investigation has found.

Herald reporters witnessed blatant public drinking at a Falmouth strip mall by Katrina victims living at taxpayer expense at Camp Edwards on Otis Air Force Base. And strippers at Zachary's nightclub in Mashpee, a few miles from the Bourne base, report giving lap dances to several evacuees.

The liberals solution to a lot of problems is just to throw money at it. In fact, on a lot of blogs, the liberals were demanding that the government just give money to people to "reminburse" them for what happened to their homes and lives because of Katrina. The above is an example of what some would do with just $2000. Can you imagine some of the same with $50,000 or more?

Being a native San Diegan, I’m very pleased. My alma mater, San Diego State beat Utah 28-19. My beloved Chargers crushed the hated and dastardly Oakland Raiders (BOOOOOOO!!) 27-14. LaDanian Tomlinson, if he stays healthy, will be considered one of the best of all time before he’s done. LT has it all: the moves of Barry Sanders and the versatility of “sweetness” Walter Payton.

And what about USC – Notre Dame? The greatest finish ever? Sorry Hugh Hewitt, you predicted earlier in the year that the Golden Dome would be USC’s downfall. Sorry, not this year . . .

Helen Thomas and the rest of them that cover the White House take themselves way too seriously. You must agree that a press conference is not the place to editorialize. Ms. Thomas is typical of the attitude that we conservatives see everyday in the MSM - editorializing while pretending to be an objective journalist. Helen Thomas is supposedly a reporter. A reporter reports the news; they aren't supposed to make it. I don't give a rats behind what she's opposed to any more than I care what Shepard Smith is opposed to.

The press is not supposed to be adversarial to the administration or supportive. They are supposed to be neutral and objective. They can editorialize all they want, but don't do it in a setting that is supposed to be for information and reporting.

Helen, get over yourself.

The continuing debate over SCOTUS nomination

The nomination of Harriet Miers is still a big topic in the right side of the blogosphere. Polipundit is on a roll right now threatening the record of consecutive posts on the same subject.

My thoughts on the subject:

Most of the objections at this point are coming from the right side - which I believe is a healthy thing, we’re not mind numbed robots after all - and I think some of them are warranted. But what it really points out is that the right is really the place where someone can disagree and not be threatened with “ex-communication". The left is brutal to the ones that stray from towing the liberal line.

Was/is Miers the best choice for the open seat? I think its obvious, in terms of qualifications and experience that the answer is no. However, Mr. Bush seems to think that she's got the stuff to be a justice. I would've preferred someone more qualified and with a strong conservative background, but I think, from what I've learned of Ms. Miers, I can live with this nomination.

Most of the right was itching for a fight. There will still be a fight over the nomination, but I suspect it’ll be all show on the liberal’s side. Style is very important to the “base” so as long as the lib senators mouth the platitudes the Daily Kos’ers want them to, they’ll be fine. There’s very little substance to these shallow people.

Drudge is reporting that 60 minutes has agreed to read a statement "denying an explosive charge being made on Sunday nght's program by former FBI director Louis Freeh"

In the statement, Samuel ``Sandy'' Berger, Clinton's national security adviser, challenges Freeh's assertion that Clinton failed to press Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to cooperate with an investigation of the 1996 bombing of Khobar Towers in that country, and used the occasion to ask for a contribution to his presidential library. The Saudis made such a donation last year _ six years after the 1998 meeting.To me this sounds so much like something Clinton would do. Since he used the Lincoln Bedroom in the White House like a bed and breakfast for "major donors to Clinton or the Democratic Party" this kind of solicitation for his library would not surprise me at all.

Berger, who was at the meeting, said: ``The president strongly raised the need for Saudi officials to cooperate with us on the investigation into the attack on Khobar Towers at the time when the FBI was attempting to gain access to the suspects. The president did not raise in any fashion the issue of his library.''Yeah, sure. This is the same Sandy Berger who stuffed top secret documents in his shorts that somehow or another he "misplaced". Yeah, I'll believe him.

Clinton spokesman Jay Carson said he told CBS's Mike Wallace that he had supportive accounts from five other former officials at the meeting, including those briefed about a private conversation between Clinton and Abdullah.I'm sorry, but I'm just having a real hard time believeing anything that comes out of the mouth of anyone associated with the Clintons.

Are there any Firefox savvy techies out there? I like to use the Firefox browser for blogging and reading my favorite news sites because I can have a ton of tabs open to switch back and forth between. Sometimes, when I’m at home on my laptop, for reasons I cannot find a root cause for, I’ll launch the browser and it will freeze immediately. It doesn’t happen all the time and I’ve yet to establish any kind of a pattern when it does happen. It doesn’t happen when I’m on the network at my place of business, it only seems to happen when I’m at home and connected via DSL. Any ideas?

And it might be interesting. According to Drudge, Mr. Freeh had "A terrible relationship with the President".

In the book, “My FBI,” he writes, “The problem was with Bill Clinton -- the scandals and the rumored scandals, the incubating ones and the dying ones never ended. Whatever moral compass the president was consulting was leading him in the wrong direction. His closets were full of skeletons just waiting to burst out.” Not that the above is a big surprise or anything but it will be interesting to see what, if anything, new Mr. Freeh has to say about the libs deity. My guess there won't be a whole lot of information about the "closets full of skeletons" due to legal issues. The book is out next week.

An amusing article published in the Washington Post states:

The liberals' hope that Democrats can win back the presidency by drawing sharp ideological contrasts and energizing the partisan base is a fantasy that could cripple the party's efforts to return to power, according to a new study by two prominent Democratic analysts.

Dang, I was hoping they'd never figure it out. In reality, the democrats have to become something they are not to fool the public, or as Rush says the dems stratigise: "How can we fool 'em today?"

I think this might be one reason why there is a lot of disagreement in the Republican party: there are some liberals who can't bring themselves to become the moobats the democrats have become.

What does Dobson know that the American people don't? The public deserves an open, fair, and thorough scrutiny of Harriet Miers. And in order to perform their advise and consent role, Senators must know more about her legal philosophy and qualifications for the court.

My opinion is that we lost a great chance to expose the left's mental illness even further by choosing Ms. Miers. There's going to be a fight anyway, MoveOn.org is already soliciting information (read: dirt) from their sheep (Hat tip Hugh Hewitt), so why not give them the "mother of all battles" and finally expose them for the loons and cretans they are?

Perhaps even the fight over Ms. Miers will lead to it, but we lost a big opportunity here. What interest do we have in keeping the Democrats on life support? Why can't we try to pull the political plug on them? They would have no problem in literally rounding us all up and putting us in re-education camps. Why do we live under this illusion that if we continue to be nice to them, they will come around? That may work locally, but in the Beltway it is a foolish strategy.

If what is being speculated at Powerline is true, then I still will not be sending the RNC any more donations like I used to. Its bozos like Arlen Spector and John McCain that will minimize this party. They seem to be unconfortable with being the majority party and are only interested in showing people that they are "moderates" instead of having some back bone and telling the left and the MSM (redundant, I know) to pound sand.

I know what your thinking, “Why do I have to register to comment on this pathetic little blog?” The reason is because so far 99% of the comments that have been posted have been from automated blog comment processes that say stuff like:

“Your blog rocks! Keep it up. And oh, by the way come check out how to get
Viagra cheap!!”

So not wanting to subject the one other reader of this blog (thanks mom) to those kinds of comments, plus I’m getting annoyed, I made registration mandatory.

UPDATE: Well, now registration is not needed. My ego needs some traffic . . . :D

1SAMUEL 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.

The above verse reminds me that I need to look a little deeper than just what I see on the outside of a man. Though we cannot see what is in the heart of a man (his motives), always remember that their words (“…for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Mt. 12:34) and actions will pretty much give you an idea where they are.

In that light, I find interesting the reactions of people to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and how it further exposed the hatred of the left for President Bush. Additionally, if there ever was any doubt of the MSM’s dropping their pretense of objectivity after the 2000 presidential election, this incident should lay those to rest.

President Bush triumphs again

Just like after 9/11, millions of Americans are thanking God that George W. Bush is the president of the United States.

Rudy Guiliani put it best after 9/11:

My wife and I were reading this together last night and it struck us how much we see this everyday:

The Senators in the SCOTUS hearings preening for the cameras.
The homosexual lobby undermining the will of the voters of California.
The MSM trying at every turn to undermine the Bush presidency
Courts declaring the pledge of allegiance unconstitutional because of the phrase "Under God".

These and other things are because vileness is exalted in our society today. When the most disgusting acts that man could ever conceive (abortion, sodomy, etc) are thought of as "normal", we are on a very slippery slope.

Fortunately, Psalm 12 also describes how God will deal with the wickedness that is rampant around us.

Being a first post, I realize that I should probably write something really profound but nothing comes to mind right now. So I'll borrow from one of the favorite verses in the Bible, 2 Cor. 4:7 :

". . . we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

This is what this blog is named for (I thought of calling it "A jar of clay" but that would be ripping off the greatest band on the planet http://www.jarsofclay.com/) . I hope to post what inspires me from the Word of God, selfless acts of fellow pilgrims, and some political commentary on the events of the day. Of course, it will come from a Judeo/Christian right of center worldview. I also hope to engage with some of you out there (on the left or right, Christian or non) in meaningful conversation.

Please note however, I can get very passionate about what I believe in and have been known to engage in some "rough" discussions with opposite view points. Please know up front, it is not because I am full of hate or close minded or a "mind numbed robot" as some of our friends on the left would like to think we are, it is because I do have passion and am very committed to my relationship with the Savior Jesus Christ and to a politically conservative viewpoint.

How much will I post? That depends. Probably not very much due to the fact that I work some god-awful hours and have a family (beautiful wife, four great kids) and other things going on in my life that may limit my posting. Also, if nobody is reading or responding, it makes no sense to continue.
